plambePatrick Lambe is a world-renowned knowledge management expert with a specialization in taxonomies, knowledge organization, knowledge strategies, and knowledge audits. He is a consultant, writer and researcher, based in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, and with projects in the USA, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia.

Originally trained in Library Science, Patrick has also had a career in training and development. Patrick is a regular keynote speaker and workshop facilitator at international conferences in Asia, Australia, the United States and Europe.

He is the author of Organising Knowledge: Taxonomies, Knowledge and Organisation Effectiveness (Oxford, 2007), an Adjunct Professor in knowledge management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Visiting Professor in the Knowledge and Innovation Management PhD programme at Bangkok University, 2-term past President of the Information and Knowledge Management Society and a member of the editorial advisory boards of the top-ranked Journal of Knowledge Management, and of Knowledge Management For Development Journal, and Journal of Entrepreneurship, Management and Innovation. Patrick is also a member of the AIIM KM Standards Committee (KM for Organizations). He is currently working on a book on Knowledge Auditing and Knowledge Mapping.

Patrick is co-organiser of the “Innovations in Knowledge Organisation” Conference which will be held in Singapore in June 2015, to showcase the current advances in bringing different technologies together to get insights benefitting businesses, government and society (

Dr Picture1Niel Rall has more than 30 years of experience in Organisation Transformation processes.  He served as a Manager in the Management Development Department at Eskom in the 1980’s. He was also Head of the Senior Management School and Organisation Development Department at Transnet, before establishing Leadership Dynamics in 1993. Leadership Dynamics specialises in Organisation Transformation, Emotional Intelligence Training, Business Leadership Development, Team Dynamics, Change Management and Executive Coaching. Over the past 30 years, Niel has achieved remarkable and measurable results with Organisation Development processes. The key to his success, is an ability to create an   openness culture. Openness removes organisational barriers to new ideas and creates an environment with a significantly enhanced capacity for creativity, innovation and change. Openness mobilises the full potential of every individual to generate and implement new ideas and solutions, without the interference of organisation politics, self-interests, egos and resistance to change. In an openness  culture, ideas are appreciated  based only on merit, added value and contribution, irrespective of the status or seniority of the originator. Niel’s ability to measure and significantly enhance openness levels, has made a huge contribution to enhance business results in many teams and organisations.

He obtained a BA Degree and an H.D.E. from the UPE, a B.Ed. Degree from Unisa, a Masters Degree in Training Management from the RAU and a PhD in Adult Education (with distinctions for both his dissertation and his oral examination) from the University of Pretoria. In addition to his academic qualifications, Niel received intensive training in Leadership Development, Emotional Intelligence and Team Dynamics from leading international institutions such as The Leadership Institute in Seattle, USA. and McLagan International.  Dr Rall previously served as an external examiner for Doctorate- and Masters-degree students at the University of Pretoria and the Tshwane University of Technology. He also obtained a Certificate in Financial Management from the University of Stellenbosch.

Niel facilitated major Transformation processes in organisations such as Eskom, Transnet, Sappi, Spescom, African Cable, The Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology, IBM, Ster-Kinekor, Radiant Lighting, GA Creative Brands and many other public and private Companies. In 1997, Niel was responsible for the transformation of the Medical and Dental Council of South Africa to establish the HPC. His current high profile clients include Discovery Health, The City of Cape Town, Schneider-Electric SA, The South African National Defence Force, DuPont Pioneer, DuPont Nutrition and Health and the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation and Centre. Niel is also an experienced executive coach and has assisted many CEO’s and Executive managers of various organisations to advance their leadership and management skills and improve the business results of their organisations or business units. Niel believes that every organisation is unique and therefore designs customised interventions to provide specific solutions for individual, team and organisational needs.

 I hope that this summit will not only contribute to a better understanding and appreciation for the value of knowledge management, but also by creating an environment conducive for innovation and change in knowledge management  technology and processes.

DemanaTDr Tshenge Demana is a Chief Director at the Department of Trade and Industry where he leads the policy and strategic positioning of the knowledge based standard setting and quality organizations, namely, SABS, SANAS and NMISA. He serves on the governance boards of CHIETA, NMISA and until recently on the board of the SABS.

Dr. Demana championed the established of NMISA and SANAS as statutory bodies. Prior to joining the dti, he worked for Lennon Ltd as a Research Scientist and for the University of the Western Cape as a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry.

Dr. Demana holds a Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Michigan.
