Papers & case studies

The full paper must be submitted by the due date and should be a maximum of 20 double-spaced pages (Arial font 12) including references and exhibits. The more complete the paper, the better its chance of acceptance in the review process.

The text of the full paper or abstract must include the title, but should not include the name(s) of the author(s) as papers will be blind reviewed. Papers are peer-reviewed before acceptance according to the requirements of the South African Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Accepted papers will be included in the Conference Proceedings. Submissions must not have been published, submitted or presented at other conferences.

Paper submissions should be submitted by e-mail together with the following information:

  • Name and designation
  • Subject line: SA KM Summit proposal (paper)
  • Company / institution / affiliation and address
  • E-mail address & work telephone
  • Cell phone number
  • Date of submission
  • Up to four keywords that describe the paper

References

The author-date (Harvard) citation system based on the 15th edition of The Chicago manual of style is used. The list of works cited, headed “List of References”, arranged alphabetically by author, appears at the end of the article.

Use minimal or sentence capitalisation for titles of publications, e.g Financial mail. Do not use a capital initial letter after a colon.

List works by the same author(s) chronologically by publication date. Two or more works by the same author(s) in the same year are distinguished by lower case letters after the date, e.g. 2007a and 2007b.

  • Reference to an article in a periodical

Author(s). Year. Title of article. Title of periodical, volume (number): page(s).

In the case of newspapers, day and month are given instead of volume and part number.

  • References to an unpublished thesis

Author. Year. Title. Description, Place, Institution.
Jansen Van Vuuren, T. 2013. Organisational design partnership for innovation and knowledge transfer. MBA dissertation. Pretoria: University of Pretoria.

  • References to online information resources

These include all the elements required for references to printed resources with the addition of the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and the date on which the item was accessed.

  • Text references

Text references state the author(s) surname(s), year of publication and page numbers, all or some of which are within brackets, e.g. (Case, 2002: 17). URLs are not included in text references.

Master classes

There will be an opportunity to present a 2-hour master class in your area of expertise. We envisaged these master classes to be highly interactive where participants can shape their practice and professional competency by learning from the masters in action. Master classes will also provide an opportunity for deep delving into a topic, such as contemporary management practices or knowledge elicitation from experts. The proposal should include the title of the masterclass, a short description (250 words), an overview of the agenda, the target audiences and biographies of the presenter/s.

Indabas

We want to host indabas that focus on specific themes and/or sectors. The indaba is a space and opportunity for people in similar contexts to convene to share and co-learn pertaining to issues and topics within that specific context. Please forward us your proposals for such indabas.  The proposal should include a working title, as well as a short overview of the need, objectives and pre-liminary agenda for such a session.

Workshops

Proposals for workshops are invited. These can be half-day or full-day workshops. The proposal should include the title of the workshop, a short description (250 words), an overview of the workshop agenda, the target audiences and a biography of the presenter/s.

Presentations about latest developments

Proposals to do a presentation about latest developments in terms of relevant technologies and practices should include the title of the presentation, an abstract of 250 words and biography of the presenter/s. Vendors are welcome to submit such proposals.
